Fire Emblem is well known for it’s deep strategy and fun mechanics. And I finally got around to playing the most recent entry Awakening. I was astounded how good it was, I heard it was above average but did not expect what I had gotten from it. The combat strategy consists of leveling up units and classes and weapon types. The weapons even have a type of rock paper scissor system and I found it very pleasing and had a satisfaction when I used it to my advantage.
The gameplay is fun and very strategic (though some stages aren’t the most fun) and every attack has a sort of weight to it in the sense you feel good and bad when you hit a unit or one of your units is hit. Now onto the plot, your goal throughout the game overall is too stop the Fell Dragon Grima from being brought back and is convoluted with many other pot elements. The characters all have personality and I do not just mean the main characters all units you get are all characters on their own. The story has many genuine and original plot elements and can keep the player in suspense.
Plus the side quests and all extra plot are all good too, and *possible spoiler warning I guess maybe* units pairing up and growing special attack strategies is cool especially since if they have a high enough relationship they can get married. Overall opinion is a great game with LOADS of play time and replay value 8.5/10
